FOR CREATORS, EDUCATORS AND VIDEO CATALOGUES

Vimeo On Demand is closing: prepare your move before 20 November

If you sell documentaries, courses or a video catalogue on Vimeo On Demand, you have a deadline to move your business. This guide covers what to preserve, how to check buyer access and how to compare AtomGo with Vimeo OTT before choosing a destination.

Prepare your move with two downloadable templates

WellbeingSpace, an application created with AtomGo
A real AtomGo application: explore WellbeingSpace.

Prepare your move with two downloadable templates

Start with one row per title and an access test. You can then request an assessment with a clear catalogue size, list of available files and record of outstanding work.

Open the CSV files in Excel, Google Sheets or your spreadsheet editor. Replace the fictional example in the inventory. These are planning documents: they do not run an import or send data to AtomGo. Keep buyers’ personal details and payment information out of these templates.

1. Preserve your originals

Record each title’s video file, size, artwork, subtitles and sales model. Check that the files open before considering the backup complete.

2. Test a representative title

Choose one with the requirements that matter most to your business, such as languages, subtitles or paid access. Record hands-on time separately from waiting time.

3. Check each access type

An existing buyer with access, a user without access and a new purchase require different tests. Record results and issues before continuing with the full catalogue.

What to verify for each part of the migration

This table sets out the results to check with your destination provider. WellbeingSpace’s website and catalogue demonstrate a real application built with AtomGo. Moving from a Vimeo account and preserving its purchases need a specific test.

ItemWhat to prepareWhen it is verified
Videos, artwork and subtitlesAvailable originals, languages, file sizes and one pilot title. The destination video plays on mobile and desktop, with the correct artwork and subtitles.
Titles, descriptions and categoriesA catalogue inventory and a mapping between source and destination categories. The pilot title retains its metadata and appears in the intended category. Confirm the upload method for that project.
Previous purchases and rentalsSales records, access rules and expiry dates. Keep these records separately. An authorised test account receives the correct access, while an account without permission cannot watch restricted content.
Subscriptions and future paymentsAn agreed approach to continuity, new registration, currency and payment provider. The provider’s test procedure confirms the agreed journey. Do not assume passwords, cards or recurring-payment authorisations transfer.
URLs and communicationAn inventory of links you control and the channels available to contact buyers.Links reach the correct destination and instructions let buyers recover the agreed access. Do not assume Vimeo redirects.

Separate platform costs from migration work

Go’s subscription and capacity are detailed below. Migration, purchase reconciliation, an integration or Agentic setup may need a separate quote. Use the inventory to define those tasks before committing to a launch date.

What is closing, and when?

22 August 2026

New uploads to Vimeo On Demand stopped.

21 September 2026

New purchases and subscriptions stopped.

20 November 2026

Vimeo On Demand storefronts close and buyers lose access.

The closure notice concerns Vimeo On Demand. Vimeo OTT remains available and is the alternative Vimeo recommends. Choose your destination and check buyer access before the final date.

Vimeo On Demand: shutdown notice

Preserve your catalogue and establish which access must continue

Export sales records before closure. The email export contains only viewers who opted to share their details, not a complete buyer list. Videos in your Vimeo account are not deleted because of this shutdown, although your plan’s storage terms still apply.

Vimeo says the move from On Demand to OTT does not automatically transfer content and subscribers. You can connect a Vimeo account to import its videos. Vimeo’s route for helping notify buyers requires both On Demand and Vimeo OTT URLs; that assistance is not confirmed for a move to AtomGo.

Vimeo On Demand: seller FAQ

AtomGo or Vimeo OTT: which should you evaluate first?

AtomGo: a fixed platform subscription

For a professional creator, educator or small production company that wants a branded OTT with its own catalogue and paid access. Go costs USD 199/month, with no per-subscriber fee or platform commission on subscriptions or PPV. Payment processing is separate. Validate your catalogue, access rules and required devices.

Vimeo OTT: continuity with your Vimeo library

Consider it if your videos already live on Vimeo and you prefer a platform cost tied to subscriber numbers. Starter is web-only; branded apps and API access are listed under Enterprise, with a separate quote. This is a different service from the On Demand product that is closing.

Vimeo OTT: pricing

AtomGo: plans and terms

Compare recurring costs, not just the starting price

Example: a website charging USD 10 per subscriber per month, with one monthly payment each. Figures exclude taxes, promotions, refunds, chargebacks, apps, video uploads and migration work. Platform and processing fees are separated; this is not a full project budget.

Calculated examples using published Vimeo OTT fees and AtomGo Go’s recurring subscription.
Monthly component100 subscribers1,000 subscribers
Assumed gross revenueUSD 1,000USD 10,000
Vimeo OTT: platform (USD 1 per subscriber)USD 100USD 1,000
Vimeo OTT: processing (2.5% + USD 0.30 per payment)USD 55USD 550
Vimeo OTT: sum of those two componentsUSD 155USD 1,550
AtomGo Go: platformUSD 199USD 199
AtomGo Go: processingAdd your payment provider’s actual feeAdd your payment provider’s actual fee

At 100 subscribers in this example, Vimeo’s two components cost less than the Go subscription alone. As the community grows, Go’s fixed platform subscription may become attractive. Include processing and compare plan scope before comparing totals.

Go includes 2 TB of storage, 100 GB of encoding per month and up to 1,000 concurrent VOD viewers. Subscribers and concurrent viewers are different measures; no per-subscriber fee does not mean unlimited capacity.

AtomGo: plans and terms

One-off sales, your library and apps: three costs to check

For one-off purchases, Vimeo OTT publishes a 10% plus USD 0.50 transaction fee, including processing. AtomGo charges 0% platform commission on PPV; add your payment provider’s fees. Do not add a second processing fee to Vimeo’s published transaction rate.

Vimeo OTT includes one free upload hour and offers additional packages. Connecting your Vimeo library lets you use that storage instead of buying OTT upload hours. Check the dependency on the source video before deleting files or cancelling hosting.

AtomGo apps are purchased separately from Go. Vimeo OTT branded apps belong to Enterprise. Ask both providers for the same devices, support and integration scope; their plans are not equivalent.

A migration checklist for verifying access before closure

1. Inventory and backup

Gather original files, titles, descriptions, images, subtitles, categories and sales records. Record which titles were rentals, purchases or subscriptions.

2. Previously purchased access

Define how you will recognise each purchase and how long access should last. Check which buyer details can move and what requires a new registration. Do not assume passwords or payment methods will transfer.

3. One test title

Upload a video you own with its metadata and subtitles. Check playback, mobile viewing and open or restricted access before moving the entire catalogue.

4. Payments and the full catalogue

Confirm currency, taxes, payment provider and commercial policies with your supplier. Validate checkout through its test procedure and agree how each type of access will transfer.

5. Communication and links

Prepare instructions for buyers you can contact, update links you control and review your domain and support arrangements. Do not assume redirects from a storefront you do not administer.

6. Review before 20 November

Use an authorised sample to check that access works at the destination. Keep exports, resolve issues and document outstanding work before considering the move complete.

This is a proposed evaluation workflow. It does not describe a Vimeo-to-AtomGo migration we have performed or guarantee a completion date: catalogue size and the access rights to preserve determine the scope.

A result you can explore: WellbeingSpace

Rosa Flores, marketing director at WellbeingSpace, created its application with AtomGo. Explore the public catalogue and read her experience. It demonstrates an application built with AtomGo; it is not a Vimeo migration case.

Nunca había podido hacer una OTT tan fácil y con tanta calidad como ahora. Lo que me sorprendió es que hay muchísimas cosas que las puede hacer la IA con solo una petición

If you also want to operate your OTT with AI

AtomGo’s AI operation belongs to Agentic, at USD 999/month, or a Custom scope. It combines editorial work and CMS/frontend control through API and MCP, with human approval. Setup and activation are required; implementation and consumption are confirmed for the agreed scope. This service is not included in Go’s USD 199/month. Evaluate a real task with your catalogue before deciding.

Sources and next step

Prepared by AtomGo from public documentation reviewed on 20 October 2026. This is not an independent review or a hands-on migration test. Prices and terms can change; Enterprise terms may differ. The examples are calculations, not observed commercial results.

What to send for a migration assessment

Describe your number of titles, total hours and approximate catalogue size; whether you sell purchases, rentals or subscriptions; how many existing access rights must continue; and your target date. You can add your public storefront URL. That summary is enough for an initial enquiry: do not attach buyer lists or passwords.

To review your move, describe the number of videos, how you sell them, the access you need to preserve and the devices you need to support. That scope helps establish the work remaining before closure.
